April 28th and 29th, 2016 OBEA Spring Conference

Business Studies: Think with a Bigger Perspective

Join us at the annual OBEA Spring Conference on April 28th and 29th, 2016, at the Holiday Inn Express at 970 Dixon Road in Toronto.

The OBEA Executive and PD Committee have worked hard to provide an excellent selection of workshops and presentations along with vendor and corporate sponsor displays. You will see a wide variety of workshops covering all areas of business studies with a focus on financial literacy, technology, teaching strategies and all things Google.

On Thursday, our keynote speaker will be ANGELLA GORAN and on Friday, ELLEN ROSEMAN will deliver the keynote address.

Please be sure to register promptly to get the early-bird rate and pass this information along to other business educators who may not be members. It is a wonderful PD experience for business educators in Ontario and a chance to learn, share and collaborate with your colleagues from across the province.

About OBEA - An Advocate for Teachers and Students

The Ontario Business Educators' Association was established in 1895 with a mission to contribute to the professional growth of business educators and to respond to needs expressed by members. To accomplish this, OBEA provides two conferences each year, one in the Fall which rotates around the province and the Spring conference, held in Toronto.

Workshops are offered to teachers across the province who wish to expose themselves to new ideas, new technology, new books, anything that will provide for more instructional material and individual insight specific to their student's needs.

Educational strategies change over time and there is no panacea or magic formula to bring about or meet all the changes; however, OBEA strives to provide a forum for stimulating ideas through conferences, newsletters, and our website. We invite fellow educators to come forward as conference presenters and contributors to our website.

OBEA conducts provincial contests for students taking business subjects. These contests take place in the Spring and are held simultaneously across the province. The CMA and the CGA, our corporate sponsors, aid in the preparation for and running of the contests. In September of each year winners are acknowledged at a luncheon held in their honour. Members can look to the web for information about entering contests.

We work with the Ontario Ministry of Education to develop business studies courses and guidelines and many of our members are textbook and curriculum writers.

OBEA is the only organization that represents business teachers in the classroom at the provincial level. Join now  and be a part of the future of business studies!
